Object desktop looks pretty neat. Do you use it? What kind of drain on system resources does it have?

I honestly don't know Trog. I don't have it yet, but it is high on my list of things I want. Thing is The list that say's "Me First" has to take priority. Like getting me a new headset will have to wait. :( oh well you do what you have to do.

But as far a your system resorces go. I really don't think it would take much of a hit. I'll go read up on that part of it and see what I can find out.

Okay this is what I found so far.

Performance & Resources

Will DesktopX slow down my system?

DesktopX itself won't. Think of DesktopX as a new way of creating things. In itself, it has little overhead. You can run DesktopX on a Pentium 2-233Mhz machine without a problem. Objects and themes, on the other hand, can use little or lots of resources, CPU, memory, etc. depending on what they do. A simple object that checks your email status can be run without a problem on any system. On the other hand, an object that does full motion video or 3D rendering would be much more intensive.

From a purely technical point of view, DesktopX is more like a programming language. C++, for instance, doesn't have overhead in itself. There are programs written with it that use little in resources and ones that use a lot.

Here are a few links I think you should read and are very helpfull.

Individual Components of Object Desktop (http://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/features.asp)
Support...Using Stardock Central (http://www.stardock.com/support/support.asp?product=5)

Well shit man now that I have read even further into this program I want it more. :jump:
